The United States is home to numerous incredible arcades that offer a nostalgic gaming experience. While it's difficult to list all the best arcades across the entire country, here is a list of a few notable ones.
Ground Kontrol (Portland, Oregon): Ground Kontrol is a legendary arcade featuring a vast collection of classic arcade games and pinball machines. It also has a full bar, making it a popular spot for adults looking to relive their favorite gaming memories. They have pinball tournaments and even Mario Kart nights. This is why it made my top 5 arcades list, and I am partial to this arcade because it is the only arcade on this list I have visited.
Barcade (Multiple locations in the United States): With several locations across cities like New York, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles, Barcade combines an extensive selection of vintage arcade games with a wide range of craft beers on tap. They even have one in New Haven, Brooklyn, Jersey City and Detroit. On their website they list all the games that are available to be played at each location, which is very neat. Their website also says they are Green Restaurant Certified. Composting, reducing waste, serving only draft beer, using a green power source, and using sustainable building materials. Makes this arcade very environmentally friendly. Honestly should be #1 on my top 5 arcades list, they have a lot going for them.
Funspot (Laconia, New Hampshire): Funspot is recognized as not only the largest in the United States, but one of the largest arcades in the world. It features over 600 games, including classic arcade cabinets, pinball machines, and even a mini-golf course. They even have a bumper car area. bingo and bowling. This place is massive, and that is why it has made my top 5 arcades list.
Galloping Ghost Arcade (Brookfield, Illinois): Galloping Ghost Arcade boasts an impressive collection of over 700 arcade games, making it one of the largest arcades in the United States. Visitors can enjoy both classic and rare titles. They also offer events, Mystery Game Monday, Memberships and so much more.
Arcade Odyssey (Miami, Florida): Arcade Odyssey is a hidden gem in Miami, offering a diverse selection of arcade games, including the retro classics, fighting games, and Japanese imports. They have events including Mario Kart, Smash, Dragonball Z, and many other events planned every month.
These are just a few examples of the many exceptional arcades in the United States. My top 5 arcades list have their own unique collection of games and atmosphere. Providing an enjoyable experience for gamers of all ages. So, get out there and remember what it was like being a kid in the 80's and play those arcade games.
