As April's gentle warmth begins to kiss the landscape of Europe, wanderlust whispers in the ears of travelers seeking sun-kissed adventures. Whether you’re ready to lounge on balmy beaches or roam vibrant streets, here's your guide to the most radiant retreats Europe offers in the spring. April is one of the best times to travel, which includes that April is less crowded than the summer months and less expensive. So, you can save some bucks and time in lines at attractions by traveling this time of year.
This blog will mention beaches but be warned April is usually too cold for most beach goers. I will be listing temperatures and water temperature in each area along with sites you can see or places you should go while visiting Europe's warmest spots in April. Although temperatures are on the rise in April, this time of year the water temperatures are not the best. Did you know that in some places the water temperatures in April are actually colder than water temperatures in December? Yes. It's true! Still if you were wanting to do any water sports or activities where you spend lots of time in the water you might want a wetsuit. Beach time in April is not a no way though, spend time in the sand, people watching or walking the beach. Or if you want a quick invigorating swim. go for it.
This list is some of what I consider the best places to visit with the warmest weather in this region. The warmest places are in the southern areas of the countries, you can tell this if you are looking at a map. So, adventurers, what are you waiting for? The Sizzling Shores of Cadiz, Spain, one of the warmest places to visit in Europe in April. 🏖️

Start your sojourn in the golden glow of Cadiz, where the Atlantic Ocean laps gently at shores that brim with stories of old. Get ready to tiptoe across sands that stretch like endless gold ribbons, veiled in the tender touch of the sun. I love this place, and plan to visit Cadiz again. There are many places to see here, along with several beaches which all were wonderful when I visited. Water is still chilly at around 59F. As the vibrant spirit of spring unfolds in Barcelona, there are a multitude of enchanting experiences awaiting you. In April, Barcelona experiences delightful spring weather, with average temperatures ranging from 11°C (52°F) to 17°C (63°F). It's a splendid time to explore the city's outdoor attractions and revel in the warmth and blossoming beauty of the season. Water temperatures will be in the upper 50’s or around 14°C, so it is too chilly to be at the beach with lots of time in the water but visit the beach anyways. It will be great for people watching, walking and quick little splashes on your toes. I love this city and plan on taking a week's vacation here soon. My time in Barcelona was way too short, and this city deserves a full week to explore. This is a great destination where you can get decent prices on direct flights from the United States. The beaches are about an hour away from Rome, so this April visit should be a vacation with warm temperature in the city of Rome exploring the streets and ancient wonders. Also, if Easter falls in April this would be a great time to visit the Vatican and many basilicas in the area.

The Vatican: A separate country located in Rome, Visit Saint Peter's Basilica, The Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums. Take a visit and see the works of art of Michaelangelo and Berini
Pantheon: An ancient Roman church that was converted to Christianity and still has services every Sunday. Several burials are located here including the 1st king and queen of Italy and Raphel.
Trevi Fountain: A beautiful historic fountain known in movies. Come here and toss pennies over your shoulder. 1 for a return to Rome, 2 pennies to fall in love and 3 pennies to fall in love in Rome.
Spanish Steps: There is nothing Spanish about them, but they are wonderful to look at with a French Cathedral at the top of the steps. This is a major tourist spot with many taking a seat on the steps of for a bit.
Villa Borghese Park: A wonderful park with an art Gallery and the Borghese Family Mansion. This park has a great overlook of the city and is great for people watching.
Gianicolo Hill: A great overlook near Vatican Hill. This is area is right above Trastevere which is a great area for restaurants and night life in Rome. If you are here the cannon fire at noon while visiting Rome, you know it is coming from Gianicolo Hill.
Saint Mary Maggiore Basilica: My favorite basilica in Rome, where the crib of Jesus is located. Several popes and Berini are also buried here.
Saint Paul’s Basilica: Stop by and visit this basilica which is located outside the city center area. This church is built on the tomb of Saint Paul and when you enter you can go pay the crypt a visit down the stair at the front of the basilica.

Temperatures are the warmest at this location in Spain, so you will be able to do all your beach activities without being too chilly. But a warning: water temperatures will still be chilly at 15°C (59°F). So, spend some time at the best and play a little bit in the water but enjoy the rest of this area in Spain and all the sites.
