How I Selected the Top Resorts

When choosing the best resorts for singles in Jamaica, I considered several key criteria:

  1. Activities & Attractions: From beachfront yoga to water sports, each resort offers exciting ways to fill your days and meet other travelers.

  2. Social Scene: Resorts with lively bars, communal events, and group excursions make mingling easy.

  3. Amenities: Swim-up bars, spas, gourmet dining, and luxurious rooms are all hallmarks of a fantastic stay.

  4. Locations: Jamaica’s hotspots like Negril, Ocho Rios, Montego Bay, and Kingston offer unique vibes and opportunities.

  5. Solo Traveler Friendliness: We favored resorts without hefty double occupancy fees and with dedicated services for solo adventurers.

  6. Safety: Prioritizing well-secured, reputable resorts was non-negotiable.

Now, let’s explore 12 of Jamaica’s top resorts for singles! Some are all inclusive resorts and some are not, so we have a good mix of cities and styles for you.

Tips for Solo Travelers in Jamaica

Traveling solo in Jamaica is an adventure like no other. Here’s how to stay safe and maximize your fun:

  • Stay Alert: Avoid isolated areas at night and trust your instincts. There is a level 3 travel advisory for Jamaica, this is not enough to stop me from visiting, in fact I did, my first visit to Jamaica was just after the advisory started. Just be aware of surroundings and you will be fine.

  • Stick to Reputable Transportation: Pre-book taxis or use resort shuttles. The best way to stay safe is to use resort transportation too. Complimentary transfers to and from the airport can be arranged, or for a small fee.

  • Engage in Group Activities: Join excursions to connect with fellow travelers. It is always great to meet other singles while at the resort and easy to do too.

  • Stay Connected: Grab a local SIM card to keep communication smooth. I love using Airalo.

  • Keep Valuables Secure: Leave expensive jewelry at home, and don’t flash your belongings.  Do not stick wallets in back pockets when out in the city to avoid pick pockets.

  • Leverage Resort Amenities: Most resorts offer a variety of programmed activities to keep you entertained and social, without even leaving the resort.

  • Buy Travel Insurance: I always recommend it for a variety of reasons, but if your vacation involves hurricane season it would be a good idea.
