London is a city where history and modernity collide, and there’s no better example of this than the Park Lane Sheraton Grand Hotel. Located in the heart of Mayfair, this hotel offers a blend of timeless charm, elegant design, and luxurious modern amenities, making it an appealing choice for tourists, luxury travelers, and hotel enthusiasts alike. Whether you’re visiting London for business or leisure, this is a space that promises sophistication—and a taste of royalty.

This review dives into all the wonderful aspects (and a few considerations) of the Park Lane Sheraton Grand Hotel. From its convenient location to its dining experiences and facilities, here’s everything you need to know before booking your stay.

Sheraton Grand London: Perfect Location in the Heart of Mayfair

Nestled on Park Lane, right across from the lush views of Green Park, the Park Lane Sheraton Grand boasts an enviable location. This classic neighborhood puts the hotel within walking distance of iconic London attractions. Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, and the Royal Academy of Arts are just a leisurely stroll away. If you’re all about shopping, world-class boutiques on Bond Street and the high-end stores of Harrods are just around the corner.

For those looking to explore London’s further reaches, accessibility is a breeze. The Green Park Tube station (The Underground) is a short walk from the property, connecting you to the Jubilee, Piccadilly, and Victoria lines. This makes it easy to zip around the city, from the bustling streets of Covent Garden to the cultural hubs of Southbank. Needless to say, location is one of the Sheraton’s strongest selling points. The Underground stations are some of the cheapest ways to get around the city. This is Central London at its best.

If you are unfamiliar with London, it is about 45 minutes from Heathrow Airport to London, and traveling by the express train to Paddington Station will cost about $30, but you can take an Uber for about $54 direct from Heathrow to the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel. If you take the Underground, it will be budget friendly, will take you longer to get to the hotel, but will not be too much trouble.

Elegant Accommodation with a Historic Charm

Stepping into the Park Lane Sheraton Grand feels like stepping into a bygone era—only this era is equipped with modern touches. The building itself is steeped in history, with its art deco design nodding to its early 20th-century origins. Over the years, the hotel has been beautifully remodeled, maintaining its historical character while seamlessly integrating contemporary luxury.

The hotel has 1920s art deco glamour, which makes sense as the hotel was opened in the 1920's. It is in the ideal location, with being at Mayfair's southern borders, and swanky Piccadilly just across the street.

Rooms and Suites

The hotel offers a variety of guest rooms and suites tailored to different needs and preferences. All hotel rooms are designed with elegant furnishings, plush bedding, and all the amenities you’d expect from a luxury property, including flat-screen TVs, coffee machines, a work desk, and marble bathrooms. From Deluxe King Rooms, club rooms and the Grand Park View Suites. You have many styles to choose from.

However, it’s worth noting that the building’s 8-floor height limits the availability of expansive city views. Many rooms face inward or look out on neighboring buildings, so if gazing at Buckingham Palace or the London Eye from your room is essential, you may need to temper your expectations.

Pet Friendly

If you are looking for pet friendly, the Sheraton Grand Park Lane is the place. They even have signature doggie cocktails for your pup to drink in the bar. The Sheraton will accommodate dogs up to 55 pounds, and with its proximity to the park, this is the perfect place to give your doggie a vacation.

Amenities

The in-room amenities are thoughtfully curated to enhance your stay. Expect high-speed free WiFi, luxurious toiletries, and even a nightly turndown service. For guests booking higher-tier suites, additional perks include access to the exclusive Club Lounge—we’ll get into that shortly. Some people refer to it as the Club Room.

The Fitness Centre is well equipped, so if you are inclined to stay fit you can do so. Personally, it was never used, as there is so much walking to do in London.

Dining Experiences to Savor

The Park Lane Sheraton Grand sets the bar high when it comes to culinary options. With choices ranging from casual small bites to sophisticated meals, there’s something for every appetite.

Breakfast Options

One of the hotel’s highlights is its breakfast offerings. There’s both a full-service restaurant and an exclusive Club Lounge available for guests. While the restaurant boasts a broader selection, including an omelet station, the lounge offers a nearly identical spread of full breakfast essentials like eggs, sausages, and ham—all included for Marriott members with lounge access or a package deal. For those who’d like to graze throughout the day, the lounge also serves snacks and small plates, making it worth the upgrade for frequenters of midday treats.

The Bar

The hotel bar is another standout feature. With a sophisticated ambiance and the soothing melodies of a live pianist on weekend evenings, it’s perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring the city. However, be prepared to splurge—prices here are steeper than what you’d find at nearby pubs and cocktail bars. If you’re looking to save, the local watering holes offer fantastic value with just as much charm.

Palm Court

Should this be counted as an amenity, maybe, but since it is the perfect place for afternoon tea, I felt it was best to mention it in this section. This is award-winning afternoon tea, with a seating area under a beautiful stained-glass ceiling. The original bar is still located here.

Mercante Restaurant

Serving classic Italian meals in a friendly atmosphere. I did not try it on my trip, but I could smell the yummy goodness when walking by..

Room Service

For quieter evenings, in-room dining options deliver well-executed meals right to your door. Whether you’re craving a late-night snack or a more private meal, the service consistently impresses.

Concierge Service and Guest Services

The concierge team is as polished as the hotel itself. Offering everything from restaurant reservations to insider tips on hidden gems around London, they transform a regular visit into a memorable London adventure. There are many positive reviews of the Concierge, guest services and the front desk at this hotel.

What Makes it Special?

The Park Lane Sheraton Grand Hotel effortlessly blends its historical background with modern luxury, making it a memorable stay in the heart of London. Highlights include:

  • Prime location in Mayfair, with iconic attractions and transport links nearby.

  • Impeccable remodeling that preserves its historical charm.

  • Exceptional dining options, especially the value-added Club Lounge access.

  • Friendly and attentive service across all staff touchpoints.

  • Dog Friendly with dog friendly cocktails in the bar

  • Award winning Afternoon Tea

However, the lack of standout room views and the higher bar prices compared to local venues might make budget-conscious travelers think twice. For luxury seekers who appreciate history, elegance, and top-tier service, it’s a fantastic experience.

My Takeaway

Having stayed at the Park Lane Sheraton Grand, I can confidently say it’s a stunning property with plenty of character. The historical architecture, art deco style, and luxurious interiors are captivating, and the breakfast offerings struck the right balance of quality and variety. I loved sipping cocktails at the bar while enjoying live piano music—it felt like the perfect touch of sophistication.

That said, the limited city views from many rooms might underwhelm travelers hoping for iconic London skylines. As the building is only 8 stories high, you will not get great views of the city from this height. Also, while the bar made for a delightful experience, I found the cost of drinks much higher than local competitors. There are plenty of pubs in the area with cheaper drinks.

Marriott Bonvoy members with lounge access or if you buy the package with lounge access you would essentially have free breakfast and snacks and small plates throughout the day, rather than paying for breakfast (minus the omelet station). This is something to think about when booking this hotel as a Marriott member.

I loved the less than 10-minute walk to Buckingham Palace, and strolling through the rest of Mayfair, or the Westminster area were super close. The closeness of Chinatown was something I enjoyed too.

Would I recommend staying here? Absolutely. Just keep these points in mind, and you’ll be prepared for a comfortable and memorable stay.
